Pensacola, FL – Publix Super Markets Charities awarded a $15,000 grant to Manna Food Bank in support of Manna’s programs and partnerships in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. The grant has funded the equivalent of 9,000 healthy meals distributed in 2020 and 2021 to children, seniors, and families.
Manna Food Bank will recognize several volunteers whose contributions carried the food bank through the COVID-19 crisis. Five volunteers will be honored with a President’s Volunteer Service Award, and one retiring volunteer will be presented with the prestigious President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The President’s Volunteer Service Award was founded by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation in 2003. The recognition luncheon and award ceremony will feature acknowledgements by Mayor Grover Robinson and Manna Board President Hank Carlstrom, and a presentation by Manna Executive Director DeDe Flounlacker.

The area’s largest multi-day food drive, Fill the Mayflower supports the operations of Manna Food Pantries. Pensacola, FL (November 9, 2020) – The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Florida Northwest will partner with Manna again this year for PensaCan: Demolish Hunger, Design Hope. When held during normal times, it is a competition where architectural firms and community amateurs create impressive structures made entirely out of full cans of food. Following a week-long display of the structures and voting, all food is then donated to Manna for distribution to the hungry of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
Pensacola, FL (November 6, 2020) – Cox Communications and Cox Automotive recently came together to support local nonprofits that provide assistance to families in the Gulf Coast recovering from Hurricane Sally. Manna Food Bank was awarded a $50,000 grant through the James M. Cox Foundation that will support local families as they continue to rebuild their lives following the storm. United Way of West Florida also received a $50,000 grant.

The Hunger Stops Here fundraiser will feature the handcrafted bowls that are typically available at the Clover Pick A Bowl Fill A Bowl event in early September. But this year, supporters can purchase the one-of-a-kind bowls at various locations throughout Northwest Florida where local businesses will have a featured item to complement each bowl sale.

Pensacola, FL (June 12, 2019) – The Pensacola Police Department (PPD), Escambia County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) and Pensacola Fire Department (PFD) are going on strike against their beloved donuts Wednesday, June 26 through Friday, June 28 to support Manna. During the Donut Strike, first responders have vowed not to devour a single donut until 20,000 pounds of food has been donated to fight hunger in the local area, the equivalent of 26,600 meals.
On Saturday, May 11, 2019, the letter carriers of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties will join forces to help Stamp Out Hunger in our community. In its 27th year, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ (NALC) annual food drive has grown to be the largest national single-day effort that benefits millions of Americans who struggle to put food on the table.
